Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION HVAC TECHNICIAN This position is responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of residential and light commercial equipment including: air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, mini splits, hermetic & scroll compressors, electric motors, evaporative coolers, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers. Technical Knowledge Required: 1. Understands basic refrigeration cycle to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging. 2. Understands basic theory of electricity, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits. 3. Understands the process of conditioning air so as to control its temperature, humidity, and distribution. 4. Understands basic heating cycle to include: identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. 5. Technician must be able to proficiently Braze and Solder 6. Technician must be able to install, repair, diagnose and maintain the following equipment A. Refrigerant metering devices B. Compressors C. Heat pumps, Split Systems, Package units, Furnaces and Mini Splits both Residential and Light Commercial up to 25 tons D. Economizers E. Humidifiers F. Evaporative Coolers G. Electric Motors H. Various types of intake and exhaust fans. I. Various types of electrical and mechanical components (Contactors, Relays, Control Boards, Transformers)
