Job Description:
The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair for the A/C units and Fan coils on campus and student housing. This position reports to the Chief Engineer. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Fixing and maintaining A/C units and Fan coils on campus including condos and student housing. Installing new duct work, Staefa & Talon AX controls, Phoenix Control, and AirCuity. • Repairing refrigerators, drinking fountains, Lab Freezers and Chromatography refrigerators, cafeteria equipment. • Ordering A/C Parts, Air Filters, Water filters For Drinking fountains and Ice Machines. • Maintain parts inventory. • Setting up times for Air Filter Changes for all Main buildings on campus with air filter Company. • Arranging a time for apartment filter changes and changing filters. • Maintaining Chiller, Boiler and water tower, water pumps, chemicals, motors central plant of mechanical plants. • Installing water filters and changing water filters on drinking fountains and ice machines. • Helping with event setups on campus. • Maintenance on hot water re-circulating pumps, and replacing bad pumps. • Responsible for checking roofing of campus buildings and 1 house. Calling roofing companies for leaks in roofs. • Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. Education and/or Experience One year certificate from college or technical school is required. An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College/Technical school is desired. Must have at least 1-2 years experience in HVACR is required. Experience in building maintenance is desired. HVACR universal certification is required. Computer Skills Computer proficiency in MS Office, Word. Excel knowledge is desired. Language Skills Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Reasoning Ability Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mathematical Ability Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
