Job Description:
The job of HVAC Maintenance Technician – Repair and maintain HVAC/R systems and their components, as well as troubleshoot electrical systems and write schematics for their work locations. In addition, ensure that preventative maintenance of all equipment is done promptly to help prevent future problems with equipment. Essential Functions • Must be familiar with the principles of refrigeration and saturation, as well as technical components such as motors, loop systems, and water treatment • Calibrate thermostats and ensure appropriate temperatures are maintained • Repair and rebuild complex commercial HVAC and environmental systems, touring and inspecting regularly • Keep all HVAC and mechanical rooms clean, orderly, and organized • Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution • Test electrical circuits or components to determine necessary repairs • Connect systems to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and other components • Inspect and maintain customers’ HVACR systems • Repair or replace worn or defective parts • Determine HVACR systems’ energy use and make recommendations to improve efficiency • Connect heating or air conditioning equipment to fuel, water, or refrigerant source to form complete circuit • Sell service contracts to clients, providing regular maintenance of heating and cooling systems • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area • Travel to work-sites
