Denver's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking two HVAC Mechanics to maintain the heating and cooling systems for the City's parks, recreation and aquatics facilities/buildings. These positions will report to 4495 Jason Street, Denver, CO and are eligible to participate in our 9/80 flex schedule plan, leading to having every other Friday off to enhance work/life balance. The HVAC Mechanics will have the following responsibilities: • Support the activities of the 30 recreation centers and over 20 park buildings by ensuring the operation of the buildings’ HVAC systems • Maintain, repair and/or replace equipment such as refrigerant compressors, boilers, water heaters, furnaces, pumps, unitary heating and cooling roof top units, indoor pool dehumidification systems and temperature controls • Program and update Building Automation Systems (BAS) • Provide service requests for our varied customers within Parks & Recreation, including some after hour calls, including routine service, preventive maintenance, and emergency requests We are looking for a dependable, self-directed and driven professional who takes pride in ownership of their work and can work independently. You must be able to work well with a diverse group of co-workers and work cooperatively to accomplish over-arching goals for the department. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have: • Experience utilizing BAS and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems or willingness to learn • Rooftop unitary heating and cooling service and installation experience • Current Universal CFC License • Experience using Automated Work Order systems We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate • Experience: Four (4) years field experience or 7,000 hours on-the-job training as required for certification by the City and County of Denver as a Heating and Ventilating Journeyman, Refrigeration Journeyman or Stationary Engineer • Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Possession of Heating and Ventilating Journeyman, Refrigeration Journeyman or Stationary Engineer. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
