JOB TITLE: Service Manager DATE: May 2001 Revised: June 2015 JOB STATUS: Non- Exempt DEPARTMENT: Service REPORTS TO: National Service Supervisor LOCATION: All JOB SUMMARY: Supervises the daily operations of regional service department. Coordinates the service department to ensure customers receive the best service possible. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to perform the essential job duties and responsibilities of a Service Technician. 1. Responsible for scheduling deliveries, pickups and service work. Will dispatch service technicians according to priority of service work and customer requirements. 2. Responsible for all service-related calls; troubleshoots and problem solves with customers and employees; provides technical services to customers or directs appropriate service person to location to resolve. 3. Monitors workflow, output and assigns work to service staff. 4. Approves time off and assists management with employment of staff to include interviewing, selection, training, disciplinary actions, performance reviews and termination as needed. 5. Supervises reconditioning schedule and checkout process of all equipment to meet plan requirements. 6. Assists service management in creating and implementing best processes/procedures for service department. 7. Maintains shop organization and appropriate inventories for both shop and trucks. • Monitors and ensures trucks are maintained in good working condition 8. Assists management with budget. 9. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. Supports Regional Service Manager as needed with other duties as requested. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 3-5 years strong working knowledge of HVAC equipment with supervisory or management skills. HVAC technical degree/certificate preferred. EPA certification required. Solid knowledge of blue prints and electrical schematics Proven strong mechanical aptitude and ability to trouble shoot and problem solve quickly Good reading, writing, and computation skills normally acquired through the completion of high school Excellent verbal and written multi-level communication skills (both in person and over the telephone) Strong computer, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills Must have good professional demeanor and solid customer relation skills Intermediate PC skills PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds Must be able to drive for extended periods of time on a regular basis Eye protection, safety shoes, hard-hat or other safety equipment required on job sites or in shop Must be able to pass DOT physical and drug screen (company will pay for no more than one physical per year) Frequent bending and kneeling Must be able to climb ladders, sometimes required to work in tight spaces Must be able to reach above the shoulders Ability to move throughout buildings and grounds on a regular basis Vision and hearing required to distinguish proper performance of equipment and hazards of job sites WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent overnight travel required Must be able to travel to other regional offices to provide support which may include extended stays over weekends Exposure to outside elements on a weekly basis to repair or install equipment Shop environment that requires safe work practices Ability to work overtime as required Working environment includes shop and construction sites Works with typical fuels and refrigerants common to the HVAC industry
