Job Description:
Purpose of the Role: HVAC technicians are comfort controllers and work with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. You will install, repair, replace and maintain HVAC systems for homes and businesses in many different types of buildings. Work Times: 8:00am-4: 30 pm, There will be a Friday morning meeting at 7:00 am. Company Meeting the last Friday of the month. Key Relationships: Staff of OCM, including office personnel, other installation co-workers, supervisors, clients, potential clients, & vendors Expectations: Profit Centre Service and maintain diverse heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems Layout wires and pipes to complete HVAC systems Perform general and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems Ensure that all installations are done in accordance with the set standards Make sure that any loose wires are connected and secured properly Ensure calibration of thermostats and other controls Perform checks on motors and belts and handle lubrication duties Change filters and replace any parts as they wear out Repair motors and service steam and hot water boilers Ensure that chemical compositions in equipment are adequate at all times Handle conduit running for HVAC equipment Request PO’s to order any supplies or equipment needed for HVAC maintenance or installation as needed Offer good customer service by offering the customer options for EVERY service call. Respond to emergency situations in order to resolve issues on an immediate basis Handle maintenance of tools and equipment Replace faulty or expired parts in an HVAC system Fabricate parts in case parts are not readily available Determine need for upgrading HVAC systems and take measures to take necessary actions Role Requirements To be able to successfully perform this role it is expected that you should possess or be able to - Skills Effective in installing and troubleshooting heating and air conditioning units Adept at balancing air and water treatment systems in accordance to HVAC protocols Core understanding of determining causes of malfunctions and correcting them properly Exceptional knowledge of providing technical assistant with the design and implementation of HVAC systems Strong background in reading and interpreting instructions and safety procedures associated with HVAC processes Proven ability to read schematics and work plans Absolute understanding of local building codes Knowledge of basic and advanced building components in relation to HVAC systems Solid knowledge of using hand and power tools Physically dexterous to handle tasks effectively in extreme weather conditions Highly experienced in handling electronic and mechanical systems effectively Well-versed in installing and repairing pumps, motors, fan coils and piping Great ability to determine whether a part of a system or the system in whole can be repaired or will need to be replaced Knowledge and ability to perform preventative and general maintenance tasks on HVAC systems Deep understanding of fabricating equipment parts to meet specialty needs or replace parts that may not be readily available Knowledge Knowledge of HVAC systems Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Qualifications / Experience High-School Diploma Trade School or comparative job experience EPA Card, Valid Driver’s License, & Social Security Card Journeyman License or Apprenticeship Card Must be able to pass a drug test if asked. Personal Attributes Personable, Positive and helpful Able to maintain confidentiality Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently & exercise sound judgment Able to remain calm & manage own emotions Capable of problem-solving & troubleshooting with attention to detail; ensuring the highest quality work. Works efficiently have pride in his/her work, quality and integrity is important Analytical and observational skills that demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot faulty equipment and proper layout of a job. Attention to detail with an ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, & manuals. Strong computer and internet skills for researching & troubleshooting. Product knowledge and awareness Clients Provide quality service with a client walk through upon completion leaving any necessary paperwork with the customer. Upsell with integrity Office & Systems Will turn in all appropriate paperwork to the office following the OCM service system. Will clock in and out utilizing Service Titan on a provided tablet or phone Invoices will be completed daily via Service Titan and emailed to the customer at the time of service Use provided OCM operating systems binder pertaining to your field Safety Will regularly evaluate PPE Complete Weekly Van Safety Sheets Ensure any other co-workers on job site are following strict OCM safety policies. Attend ALL OCM safety meetings. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Outcomes /Measures – the person in the role should know they have performed if the following are achieved - Perform HVAC Service Calls Troubleshooting Service Calls will be completed in a timely manner with zero callbacks resulting in customer satisfaction and higher #’s of reviews completed. Any problems that may arise technician will be able to locate and repair resulting in customer satisfaction and higher #’s of reviews completed. Customer Service Fewer customer callbacks Fewer customer complaints Service Titan OCM Safety Service Systems No time errors because of the use of ST to clock in & out. Decrease incidents of injury because OCM safety policy is followed. Fewer invoicing issues and jobs not being completed out by using the service system clearly typed invoices, & ops manual
