Description: SUMMARY: Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to maintain, troubleshoot, install, and repair ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems used in residential or commercial settings. May provide training and technical guidance to lower level HVAC Service Technicians. ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS (in coordination with technical training modules, not all-inclusive): ? Understand the function of power, load and control circuits and how to identify them on wiring diagrams ? Have a fundamental knowledge of alternating current, electric motor theory and motor protection techniques ? Understand the methods and procedures used to troubleshoot electrical circuits ? Understand the temperature/pressure relationships, charge adequacy and capacity, the basic refrigeration cycle, compressors, capacity controls, how condensers operate, evaporator coils, and metering devices MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 years of related HVAC service experience is preferred. Apprentice License required – Journeyman preferred. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. A working knowledge of electrical and gas diagnostics and air flow are desired. EPA certification is required. A valid driver’s license and good communications/ human relations skills are required.
