Job Description:
TEMP-AIR, Inc. JOB TITLE: HVAC Technician II DATE: August 2016 JOB STATUS: Non-exempt DEPARTMENT: Service REPORTS TO: Service Supervisor/Regional Service Manager LOCATION: All JOB SUMMARY: Installs, maintains and repairs rental (HVAC) heating and air conditioning equipment according to established policy and procedure. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs start-ups, routine checks and emergency service on temporary HVAC equipment on customer’s sites. • Instructs customers on proper operation of equipment • Inspects installation of equipment on site, advises customer on potential safety issues with installation of equipment • Advises customers on conditions that could reduce effectiveness on equipment • Performs diagnostics and repairs HVAC equipment. • Assists customers or other contractors with diagnostics of electrical, gas or plumbing systems which prevent proper operation of rental HVAC equipment 2. Performs reconditioning and maintenance inspections on rental HAVC Equipment at regional service location. • Cleans, inspects & repairs HVAC equipment to insure equipment meets minimum reconditioning standards • Performs pre-shipment checkout and jobsite specific configuration adjustments to rental HVAC equipment • Performs Service Bulletin updates, equipment modifications and component updates as required • Recommends and advises Service Supervisor when rental HVAC equipment does not meet reconditioning standards or requires extensive repairs to meet recondition standards. 3. Transports equipment and accessories to and from customer’s job sites. • Advises customers or contractors of gas and electrical requirements for the equipment • May set or position equipment onsite. • May install temporary duct work or instruct customers on proper installation of temporary duct systems • May install gas hose or instruct gas suppliers on installation or testing of temporary gas piping systems for rental HVAC equipment • Returns equipment from job site, properly accounting for all equipment and damages. 4. Drives company trucks safely • Maintains a clean driving record • Preforms daily DOT inspections company vehicles used in conjunction with assigned jobs • Arranges oil changes and vehicle washing • Informs Supervisor of any vehicle issues 5. Creates and maintains accurate documentation. • Completes Field Service reports, Startup and Routine Checks • Maintains accurate refrigerant log and repair documentation • Parts usage • Delivery and pickup forms 6. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Completion of HVAC trade school education or equivalent work experience in HVAC field EPA Section 608 Type I & Type II or Universal certification required Working knowledge of electricity and gas piping through on the job experience or post high school technical education Knowledge of blue prints and electrical schematics Reading, writing and computation, communication skills normally acquired through the completion of HS Diploma or GED Must have at least one-two years customer service or related experience Current drivers license required and in good standing (No DUI within 5 years) Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and ability Working knowledge of common hand tools and testing equipment Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT employment physical and drug screen (company will pay for no more than one physical per year) Must be 21 yrs old, in most locations for DOT driving purposes Beginning PC skills PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds Must be able to drive for extended periods of time on a regular basis Eye protection, safety shoes, hard-hat or other safety equipment required on job sites or in shop Frequent bending and kneeling Must be able to climb ladders, sometimes required to work in tight spaces Must be able to reach above the shoulders Ability to move throughout buildings and grounds on a regular basis Vision and hearing required to distinguish proper performance of equipment and hazards of job sites WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional overnight travel may be required Working indoors and outdoors year round as required Ability to work overtime as required Working environment includes shop and construction sites Works with typical fuels and refrigerants common to the HVAC industry
