Job Description:
Dispatcher job description As a dispatcher, also known as our hub, you'll act as an important link between our company and our clients. In this position you'll be striving to understand our client's goals and then organize, plan and schedule the required service or services to resolve our clients needs. So, what will I actually be doing? Your routine tasks are likely to include: • Communicate with clients to discuss their HVAC needs • Entering the clients information into our Wintac system • Send out all require paperwork prior to dispatching a technician • Working with account managers to devise a plan of action and project completion • Presenting ideas, products and services to our clients • Solving any problems and making sure clients are satisfied and deadlines are met • Reporting on the project / repairs progress • Keeping in contact with the client at all stages of the project / repair • Providing clients with proposals and tracking • Basic data entry and keeping current site info up to date • Issuing purchase orders to vendors and tracking purchase orders • Preparing all WIP’s for billing • Making recommendations to win new business • Ordering all required parts and materials • Check all technicians “in” and “out” of projects ensuring SOP is completed The finer details... You will be office based, your working day will typically be 8-4:30, and weekend working is rare. You will spend a considerable amount of your day on the phone. Money, money, money Figures are a guideline only. Starting salaries for dispatcher range from $30,000 to $55,000 a year based on experience. With promotion to dispatch manager, this typically rises to between $50,000 and $75,000. The good points... This is a very rewarding fast paced position, if you like to be in the lead, this is the position for you! Work your way up the career ladder and you’ll see a nice salary going into your bank account. ...and the bad. The working day is usually at least eight hours and there is the expectation that people will stay on or start early for as long as it takes to meet deadlines. Are there qualifications involved? You do not need any particular qualifications. However, dispatching is a very competitive field and we expect you to be qualified in dispatching to a degree. Most college degrees are acceptable, but you may have an advantage with one of the following: • Accounting • Marketing • Statistics or operational research • Communication and media studies • Business or management • Psychology OK, I'm interested... To be a successful you'll need: • Good spoken and written communication skills • Strong presentation and negotiation skills • Confidence, tact and a persuasive manner • Good organizational and time management skills • Good “people skills”, for working with a range of colleagues and clients • The ability to lead and motivate a team • A willingness to work long hours, often under pressure • A professional manner Good business sense and the ability to multi-task
