Job Description:
TITLE: SUPERVISOR of SERVICE It is an exciting time, we are looking to hire a Supervisor of Service for our growing service department. SUMMARY: Provide supervision and technical support as well as, plan, coordinate and control all of the field operations including the start-up, repair, and maintenance of all HVAC systems at our facilities; performs related duties as assigned and ensure quality workmanship as well as handling your own projects, start-ups and maintenances as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To promote leadership, teamwork and profitability within our service division. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (which are not in any hierarchical order) Supervises the daily activities of factory Start-up, Service and maintenance staff. Assist in the Scheduling of all field staff Oversee all preventive maintenances on a regular schedule. Track equipment maintenance requirements. Track equipment and supply inventory. Oversees and inspect all contract work. Maintain records and files related to contracts, employees, and vendors. Coordinates the replacement of refrigeration or air conditioning equipment to minimize disruption of business and to meet user needs. Provide technical assistance and on-site training for our team members as well as customers KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures. Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques. Knowledge of personnel principles and practices. Skill in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees. Skill in scheduling and prioritizing manpower and projects. Skill in reading and following blueprints and engineering drawings. Skill in researching and gathering information related to vendors, contractors, equipment and supplies. Skill in negotiating and administering contracts. Skill in resolving day-to-day questions and problems regarding equipment, materials, methods, and procedures needed to complete projects. Skill in oral communication in one-on-one and group situations. Skill in file and records management. Ability to analyze information of considerable difficulty and drawing valid conclusions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with company staff and the public. Ensure compliance to the company Safety Program and other policies and procedures. Ensure team members are informed and practice safe work habits and use the appropriate safety equipment. Ensure completion of maintenance and repair within the scheduled time frame and provide for the response to unscheduled calls in the absence of the assigned technician. In collaboration with the dispatcher ensure adequate manpower to accomplish work within team area. Keep the Service Manager and dispatcher advised of needs and performance of mechanics. Carry out quality checks on work performed by technicians. Report deficiencies to management. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may involve moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is occasional need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (over 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. We promote a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED, an apprenticeship in air conditioning and refrigeration, and ten (10) years experience in refrigeration and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair, including 3 (3) years lead work or supervisory experience. A valid New York driver’s license is required. Fifteen (15) years relevant experience supervising trade technicians. Sales and customer service experience in a mechanical service environment preferred.
