The Opportunity: The Sales Engineer will aggressively grow Daikin North America’s VRV and Light Commercial market share for the defined geography within greater NYC. This position is responsible for fostering and promote long term customer relationships with Mechanical Engineers in the Long Island and Manhattan, NY area. VRV Pipeline management, pipeline generated revenue, rep and contractor development within the assigned geography. These resources, plans and activities are to be aligned with the Daikin Representative. Relationship development within the HVAC community through consulting engineers, owners and architects. Ability to make in-person sales calls on consulting engineer firms on a regular basis. Seeks out prospective new consulting engineer firms to cultivate relationship and gain Basis Of Design position. Support the recruitment and development of a VRV Pro Contracting initiative. Sales support role will (for reps and distributors) serve grow specification pipeline and design build business utilizing the CRM, Dashboard and Pipeline Management tool set. Capable of creating demand for products and services. Educate engineers, architechs and other relevant partners on the value proposition of VRV and Daikin through coordinated support of sales partners. Determine product needs of the market place and work closely with Daikin product marketing and key leadership personnel to establish or update product plan that serves local market requirements. Provides market and competitor intelligence through data collection from sales team and detailed territory analysis. Note: The ideal candidate will be equipped to perform the Sales Engineer position with excellence, as well as have the potential and interest for further career advancement at Daikin. Ideal Experience: BS in engineering or business preferred, MBA a plus. Able to passionately accept the challenge of new technology introduction and demand creation 3+ years sales or technical manager experience with VRV/VRF technology. Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC (specifically VRV/VRF) products and services, customers, decision makers, sales processes and market trends. Effective “cold-calling” abilities. Outstanding business development, consultative selling and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to prioritize and function in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects. Ability to work effectively with peers, subordinate and superiors across complex organizations. Positive flexible attitude, with a can-do approach to solving challenges. Critical Competencies for Success Customer relationship skills: The ideal candidate has a relationship building skill through effective influencing and communication. He/she is adept at influencing and mentoring and inspiring sales partners and their customers (consulting engineers or HVAC contractors) to approach business in new and innovative ways. Commercial abilities: The executive is adept at selling through a value proposition model. He/she is able to clearly define the value proposition for products using more advanced technology and outmaneuvering competitors who sell lower efficiency products based on price. Multi-cultural skills: The ideal candidate has gained experience in a global setting and is able to adapt his/her style to a holistic, fact based and data driven organizational approach. He/she is able to patiently establish long-term relationships with a variety of senior leaders, as well as peer functional groups such as operations, finance and human resources.
