Job Description:
The Junior Estimator is responsible to learn all aspects of the estimating process through the supervisory mentorship of a Senior Estimator. Accountabilities: Estimating Process Through the mentorship and assistance of the Senior Estimator, learn how to: Download bidding documents Set up estimates Use and navigate electronic file system Utilize card list notification system Use all estimating programs, i.e.; Quickpen, Bluebeam, subcontractor/equipment spreadsheets, project tracking, vendor and subcontractor interactions/relationships Proposals and RFP compliance Assist in reviewing proposals, understanding of drawings and specifications, attend pre-bid meetings, attend descope meetings to determine scope of work, and required contents of an estimate through the mentorship of a Senior Estimator. Assist Senior Estimator in preparing final bid proposals, bid forms including clarifications, exceptions, standard terms and conditions. Vendor/Sub Quotes Work with and obtain pricing from various vendors and subcontractors throughout bidding process. Qualifications: Skills Strong computer and technology skills, MS Office Suite Ability to prioritize, absorb knowledge, set goals and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and meet strict deadlines through the mentorship of the Senior Estimator Demonstrate strong math aptitude, organizational, verbal, written and analytical skills Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree – mechanical engineering, software engineering, computer sciences preferred 1-2 years’ experience in construction industry preferred Must be comfortable working with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and vendors Physical Requirements Ability to sit for long periods of time, walk, stand, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers & lifting <40lbs Job Type: Full-time
