Primary Function The primary function of this position is to provide technical/troubleshooting assistance, general product information, warranty assistance, and parts order processing for inquiries requiring extensive product knowledge. Primary customers are general contractors, service professionals, facility maintenance personnel, architects, engineers and other professionals responsible for ensuring equipment is specified adequately and functional at all times. Technical Specialists work to assist callers in repair rather than replacing equipment where possible. Product specific paid training is provided. Avionics, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Auto Mechanics, Maintenance, and other professionals have performed well in this position. Responsibilities - Often serves as the only contact to our company for current and potential customers/consumers. Primary contact is via phone. - Receive calls from service professionals and others to assist with the identification of the source of problematic conditions involving water heating equipment, related equipment, and installations. - Remain current with technical aspects of commercial, industrial, and all other water heating equipment. - Remain current with codes affecting water heating equipment and installations. - Make warranty related decisions for expensive commercial/industrial water heating and related equipment. - Provide reference numbers, as applies, to ensure warranty coverage. - Provide specification information for callers considering purchase. - Assist customers with sizing water heating and related equipment based on facility needs - Utilizes drawing system to view specifications about a product; example switch pressures - Assess caller’s abilities and refers non-service professionals to service providers when needed. - Refer callers for purchasing and replacement - Document caller, installation, and product information. - Provides support for tankless and residential equipment in addition to other commercial/industrial water heating equipment. - Checks availability of parts. - Processes part orders – warranty & sales. - Reviews proofs of purchase for legitimacy. - Review and generate wiring diagrams. - Review and generate water, fuel, and venting piping diagrams. - Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications - One of the following combinations of education/experience: (1) Bachelor's degree in any field OR (2) Associates degree and minimum 4 years related field experience OR (3) minimum 6 years related field experience. Certifications and diplomas are considered as part of education and experience. - Experience working on commercial HVAC equipment or commercial water heaters and boilers preferred - Familiarity with National Fuel Gas Code, National Electrical Codes, National Building Codes, and ASME standards - Understanding of the design, function, installation, operation and repair of gas water heaters and boilers (or gas furnaces/HVAC equipment) - Plumbing experience is helpful - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrates troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (electrical, gas, installation and plumbing) - Basic computer skills We Offer Competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits plans which include medical and dental insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, retirement security savings plan, short- and long-term disability programs and tuition assistance.
