Job Description:
We are looking to add a plumber to our staff. The plumber would be assigned to the main office and would work at various job locations in the NoVA geographic area. The ideal candidate would be capable of plumbing service and installation work. (No new construction.) Typical schedule would be days, M-F, but due to the seasonal nature of our business, some overtime, evening or weekend work (or travel) may be required, plus rotating On-Call duties. The plumber may assist on large mechanical or construction installation projects and perform plumbing service calls, inspections, and repairs. Depending on the assignment, the plumber may work under the supervision of project superintendent or a lead technician; or alone under the direction of a service dispatcher. Many installation, construction staff members and trainees are required to drive their own vehicles to job sites, but service plumbers are generally assigned a company-branded vehicle. While the vehicle is strictly for use on company business, staff members are dispatched from home, so a safe parking for the vehicle when off duty is required. Qualifications and General Requirements • Valid driver's license, good driving record • Reliable transportation, regular and predictable attendance is required • Understand international plumbing code requirements and ability to ascertain code requirements for different jurisdictions • Understanding of PPE and safety requirements for safe work • Journeyman plumbing license, or equivalent qualifications and experience • Capable of reading, understanding and following blueprints • Competent to independently diagnose, repair/replace plumbing fixtures, valves, sweat pipes, thread pipe, cut pipe, repair/install hot water heaters, including side loops, toilets, sinks, and supply lines for residential, commercial and government customers. • Must pass drug test and background checks • Possess a professional, safe and cooperative workplace demeanor • Solid tenure and proficient workmanship with top-notch customer service skills • Must provide own hand tools commensurate with role and position • Must be fit enough to handle the demands of working at a construction site and be able to handle materials and supplies needed for plumbing repairs, installation and service work • Must be able to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment, and work from elevated platforms or lifts with harness equipment • Overtime is not guaranteed, but there are times when it is required • Backflow Certification is a plus For consideration, send your resume with your work history and a cover letter detailing your qualifications and salary requirements.
